Urban Inversion

Take off the headphones cocoon.
Keep the headphones on.

Urban Inversion is a presence layer for glasses wearers. As you walk, your glasses quietly show who nearby is open to a conversation — and who wants to be left alone — so approaching someone is welcome, and giving someone space is easy.

Open Quiet Observer You choose your state moment to moment. Go invisible and the app disconnects completely — the server holds nothing about you at all.

Why "inversion"?

Cities spent a decade designing people into bubbles — screens, buds, blank stares. This inverts the signal: the same wearable technology that sealed us off becomes a small, consent-based beacon for the analog thing it replaced: a chat with whoever happens to be there.

Built privacy-first

No accounts, no names, no faces, no camera use. Your position exists only in server memory for a few seconds and is shared with nobody — others see only a rough direction and distance category, and only while you are visible yourself. Exactly how it works, in detail.

Getting started

The experience runs in the browser of display glasses (currently the Ray-Ban Display web-app runtime) at /xr — added once via the Meta AI app in Developer Mode, then it's just a URL. Start on the Enter page for the one-time consent step.

No accounts. No tracking. Positions live only briefly in server memory and never leave it. Read the details.
